Seven days worth of
undergarments. Remember
it’s hot and humid in the Islands…you may want to take
extras.
Sleepwear…whatever you plan
to bring for your trip.
Other clothing items: socks, belts, hat,
sunglasses.
Return home travel
clothes.
What else to consider: shaving kit and personal
hygiene items. A little
gift for your travel partner.
What not to bring: shirts with offensive or
political statements.
What else
do we bring? There are
a number of other items to make your vacation or honeymoon travel
more enjoyable. To
follow are what you should do before you go and what other items to
bring to make your trip more
enjoyable.
Leave a copy of all your
travel documents with a family member. Include copies of airline
tickets, travel vouchers and travel insurance policy numbers. Also leave your hotel
contact information.
Make copies of all your proof of citizenship.
Duplicate the above and
place in your checked luggage.
This way if something happens with your carry-on luggage that
your tickets, vouchers and proof of citizenship are in, you will
have a copy.
Take with you important
phone numbers: who to
contact back home in case of an emergency, physician numbers, travel
insurance number, credit card numbers and lost or stolen contact
numbers.
Supply of medical drugs you
may be taking along with an actual prescription from your
doctor. Just take the
amount you will need on your trip.
Birth control if you
wish.
Sunscreen! At lease with an SPF of 30.
Red
Parrot
uses SPF 45. Bring at
least two bottles and use them. Don’t forget your
lips.
Extra
contact lenses, re-wetting and clean solution. Extra pair of glasses if you
need them. Don’t
forget your sunglasses!
Your own
toiletries. Most
resorts will have soaps, shampoos and conditioners in the rooms but
you will be using water and items you are not use to. So, if you are prone to any
type of skin irritations, you may want to take your own. Travel Tip – your honeymoon
is not the time to be trying new hygiene items. Take your own with you. Purchase empty travel size
bottles and fill with your own. Shopping guide: Wal-Mart, K-Mart and most drug
stores carry plastic, travel size; refillable bottles just for this.
Don’t forget
tooth brush and tooth paste.
Over the
counter medications:
antacids Tums, Pepcid, Alka-Seltzer, allergy medication, pain
relief, diarrhea medication, Benedril and a small tube of
Neosporin. Red
Parrot
always brings Benedril and Neosporin in case of allergic reaction to
insect bites or contact with plants.
Additional
drug store type items:
antibacterial wipes and/or antibacterial jell, small bottle
of alcohol, a few band aids.
Bring your
camera and extra film or memory stick. An underwater camera for
snorkeling or diving trips.
A
collapsible zipper carry bag (Waterproof is best). For shopping trips or
carrying items to the pool or out on a boat. This should be able to fold
up and store easily when not in use. Shopping guide: travelsmith.com, magellian.com,
orvis.com, sierratradingpost.com
A zip lock
bag or two. For any
last minute wet items that have to be packed or souvenirs.
Bug spray –
for hiking and at night.
Most resorts
have CD players in the rooms.
Check and bring a favorite CD with you.
One of
Red
Parrot’s
favorite travel items is a candle. Red
Parrot
has a silver candle box with lavender-scented candles that is great
for traveling. I take
this everywhere. This
helps with any musty hotel rooms or cleaning smells. Don’t forget the
matches.
Insulated cup with lid. These
are great for keeping your frozen island drinks cold even in the
hottest of weather.
Koozies will also do!
